The Judevine autism method is a parent-centered approach for families with children who have autism, asperger syndrome, autistic characteristics or PDD (pervasive developmental disorder). The Judevine Center, which
was founded in 1970, is a non-profit agency based in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1999, a Georgia parent group called GRASP (Georgia Regional Autism Support Projects) started 2 replica Judevine training programs in
Augusta and Albany, Georgia.
Services offered at Albany ARC:
- 3- week Judevine Autism Summer Training available to a maximum of 4 families
for 3 weeks in Albany, GA.
The 3- week training is an intensive, competency- based instructional program designed to assist parents in understanding their child’s behavior, communication and other issues. Also, the parents and children with autism learn an array of skills that can be used to work with these issues.
- Parent Support Group- Parents of children with autism and PDD meet monthly.
- In- Home Consultations- Short term assistance that focuses on topic- specific
issues that the family or caregiver is dealing with at home.
- Advocacy- Based on family’s goals for the child with autism, ARC can work with the
school system staff to build a successful inclusive educational opportunity for the child.
- IEP Support – At the family’s request, ARC can provide support during the planning
of activities to help set the educational and social goals and to achieve proper support levels for each child.
- Workshops – ARC can conduct educational workshops for agencies and school system
staff about autism and the Judevine autism method.
