OTA Program
Darton College's Occupational Therapy Assistant Program has been conducting a service learning experience in conjunction with the Albany Advocacy Resource Center for the last four years.

Each summer, the OTA students look forward to volunteering at the Adult Day/Independent Living Program and the Albany ARC Preschool. The goals of the Albany ARC go hand-in-hand with the mission of occupational therapy which is to provide activities that promote functional daily living skills, socialization skills, and physical well-being.

The OTA Program Director, Stacey Sanders, along with faculty members Tonya Anglon and Stephanie Gowan, supervise the students as they lead the clients in fun activities to include crafts, dance, and safety education. Each year, the services that the OTA students provide grow in number and experiences.

This summer, the students came Monday through Thursday mornings from 8:30 to 12:00 leading more than twelve different groups each day. The clients are always excited to see the students come knowing that they will have something exciting for them to do. The students completed their summer at the Albany ARC on July 21, 2011.
