| Albany ARC Preschool activities that will help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically. Children with disabilities are included in all classroom activities. The children leave the Albany ARC Preschool more prepared for their next school experience, excited about learning and ready to succeed. Adult Day/Independent Living Program The mission of Albany ARC’s Adult Day Program is to ensure that people with developmental disabilities experience valued roles in the community by providing services and training that supports individual choices and opportunities. The Day Program offers instruction in self help skills, daily living skills, socialization skills, functional skills for daily living and safety issues, and an exercise program. EmployAbility "A Different Source for the Workforce" EmployAbility provides services to assist individuals with a vocational disability in obtaining and maintaining employment and maximizing their independence. This program was designed as a new and innovative program to bring employment services to individuals with disabilities. Benefits of employment go far beyond the individual and extend to his/her family, friends, employer and the community. High School/High Tech Program The High School/High Tech Program is an educational enrichment program for high school students with disabilities who are interested in pursuing careers in science, technology and engineering. It is designed to develop career opportunities and provide activities that will spark an interest in high technology fields and encourage students to pursue higher education with learning experiences through opportunities in science exploration, paid summer internships, and mentoring. Special Olympics Special Olympics empower individuals with intellectual disabilities, through year-round sports training and competition. Special Olympics is often the only place where they have the opportunity to participate in their communities and develop belief in themselves. Transforming the athlete, Special Olympics sports are a gateway to empowerment, competence, acceptance and joy. Judevine Autism Judevine training is built on the agency’s belief that autism is a pervasive developmental disorder, which interferes with an individual’s ability to understand or participate in everyday social interaction. This program develops successful exchanges between the parent and their child with autism through parent/in service workshops, consultations, advocacy, and preschool program. Project ARC A community based program that supports individuals with various disabilities to live and work independently in the community. Project ARC provides assistant in money management, vocational rehabilitation, medical concerns, community and private resources, and transportation. Residential Program Residential Services are provided for the well being and care of consumers ready to live on their own or in different levels of supervised living. Albany ARC provides qualified trained staff that is selected based upon the needs and desires of the consumer receiving services. Albany ARC’s Residential Program currently provides services to 122 consumers in either group homes, semi-independent living arrangements or in consumer home ownership-independent living arrangements. Support staff is available to assist residents twenty-four hours a day seven days a week. S.O.U.R.C.E. Service Options Using Resources in Community Environment SOURCE integrates primary medical care with supportive services through case managers who work with the consumers and their primary care physicians. Consumers who meet eligibility criteria enroll with a SOURCE site as their primary care provider who coordinates all medical and social services. The program was designed to integrate primary care, specialty care and home based care, reduce emergency room use, hospital and nursing home admission, and stabilize social and lifestyle factors that affect compliance, health status and quality of life. Dougherty Leadership Development Institute Designed to integrate persons with disabilities and non-disabled persons into the leadership community and empower them to have even more influence over their lives. The class members are nominated by supervisors or peers and participate in a 6 month interactive lecture series with topics that cover personal leadership style, diversity training, health and human services, courts and public safety, business and economic development, and arts and cultural affairs. T.A.P.P. The Treatment & Aftercare for Probationers & Parolees T.A.P.P is an advocacy program designed to aid inmates, with either a mental health or mental retardation diagnosis, which are being released back to the community. |
